Deer River to Northome. The Avenue of Pines Scenic Byway in Minnesota is particularly known for its long stretches of mature red pine forests, offering a driving experience through a canopy of towering trees, interspersed with views of sparkling lakes, marshes, and aspen stands, all while traversing the heart of the Chippewa National Forest, making it a prime spot for wildlife viewing including bald eagles, deer, and black bears; this scenic route also provides access to various recreational activities like hiking, biking, and snowmobiling along its 46-mile stretch.
